Jacksonville Jaguars: Jason Lisk Sets Pass/Fail Line for Blaine Gabbert Jason Lisk is one of the best football writers around. I've always enjoyed his analytical approach to the game and his willingness to investigate claims with research. His most recent piece sets projections for Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker. I don't want to dwell heavily on his analysis of Locker, as even he admits it's difficult to draw comparisons. There are three points about Gabbert that ...

Blaine Gabbert not taking Jaguars starting job lightly While Blaine Gabbert has already been named the Jaguars starter, Jacksonville's top pick in the 2011 draft competes at every practice to keep his starting signal-caller job.

Blaine Gabbert might have the starting job, but he's not acting like it Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey is saying there's not going to be a competition for the starting quarterback position in training camp. But Blaine Gabbert has the attitude that he is still competing. "I compete every practice," he said.

Blaine Gabbert and Starting QBs on Shaky Ground In the National Football League, quarterback can be the most important position on the playing field, and having an elite signal-caller such as Aaron Rodgers can be a big step toward propelling an NFL team toward postseason glory. However, some NFL clubs aren't so lucky. Whether it's due to poor play, another quarterback nipping at their proverbial heels or a combination of the two, the ...

Jacksonville Jaguars: Blaine Gabbert Will Get Gene Smith and Mike Mularkey Fired Right now, the Jacksonville Jaguars are a teetering house of cards just waiting for the weakest link to collapse, bringing the rest of the franchise tumbling down around him. All signs point to that weak link being Blaine Gabbert . The Jacksonville Jaguars have doubled down on Gabbert as their franchise quarterback, and that will doom the positions of Gene Smith and Mike Mularkey in Jacksonville ...

Gabbert competing to be Jaguars top QB Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey is talking as if there's not going to be a competition for the starting quarterback position, but Blaine Gabbert has the attitude that he is competing. "I compete every practice,'' he said.

SI's Don Banks: Blaine Gabbert Will Lose Starting Gig By Week Three Of The Preseason Though the Jacksonville Jaguars have yet to begin training camp, the quarterback controversy has already begun. Sports Illustrated 's Don Banks wrote today that former Miami Dolphins signal caller Chad Henne will take over for the Jaguars under center by week three of the preseason -- as part of his "7 strong hunches for the 2012 season." That would leave projected starter Blaine Gabbert , the ...

Jaguars Jones, Gabbert & Jones-Drew to football camp Former Beaufort native Greg Jones is proud to host his first free youth football camp hosted by his nonprofit foundation, the Lead Block Foundation and presented by Boston Asset Management.

The Rant: Gabbert deserves a chance to prove himself Here's the truth about Blaine Gabbert: The Jaguars, his critics and his own teammates, have no idea what to expect from the second-year quarterback. Trying to project off his pathetic rookie season is like looking for the exit in an extremely dark cave.

Second-Year Breakout: Will Rackley of the Jacksonville Jaguars No team in football needs their 2011 draft to break out in a big way in 2012 like the Jacksonville Jaguars . The shadow of Blaine Gabbert looms over the franchise, but I've spilled more than enough virtual ink discussing him in recent weeks. The quarterback is a lightning rod for controversy, but the one thing everyone can agree on is that he absolutely has to play better in 2012 than he did in ...

Mizzou Football Has More Veterans In 2010

It's quite a different feel entering the 2010 season for the Missouri Tiger football program, as compared to 2009, when Gary Pinkel's squad was one of the youngest in the country.

A year ago, the Tigers managed eight wins and a fifth-straight bowl game appearance, despite featuring a depth chart that included 34-of-51 players being either freshmen or sophomores to start the year.

In 2010, Mizzou enters the season, well, seasoned.

Seventeen starters from 2009 return to the fold, including eight on each side of the ball, plus PK Grant Ressel, who won 1st-Team All-American honors (Sports Illustrated) for his record-setting season.

Grading my 3,000-yard passer projections This time last year, we broke down who in the Big 12's would most likely hit the benchmarks for their positions in 2011. The quarterbacks came first. Here's what I wrote then. The clear line designating the best at the position is 3,000 yards. Plenty will top the number, and some from the Big 12 will even hit 4,000 yards. In 2011, 39 quarterbacks broke the 3,000-yard mark. Well, it's time to ...
