Variety of data suggested Jaguars should take a tackle in Round One The Jaguars have stood pat at quarterback in the offseason, good news for third-year pro Blaine Gabbert, who thus gets another chance to show he can be the club’s long-term answer at the position. Whether Gabbert can seize the opportunity remains to be seen. But this is much is clear — the Jaguars believe improving…

Team Report - JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS Jaguars fortify D-Line with former Patriots

Jacksonville Jaguars Building Foundation for the 2014 Quarterback Class It's no surprise that David Caldwell was not impressed with the quarterback prospects in the 2013 NFL draft. With the opportunity to draft Geno Smith in the second round, and then Matt Barkley, Ryan Nassib or Mike Glennon in the third, Caldwell elected to stay patient and build around his current group of quarterbacks. That Jaguars depth chart currently includes Blaine Gabbert , Chad Henne ...

Tim Tebow gets job offer from the Lingerie Football League While he waits to field offers from other football teams or leagues, one league is offering their services as a quarterbacks coach. The Legends Football League (formerly the Lingerie Football League) sent a letter to Tebow’s representatives to try to land him a gig, reports Yahoo! Sports.

Predicting Winners of the 10 Most Intriguing NFL Training-Camp Battles The news cycle has slowed down a great deal around the National Football League since the draft ended last month. Teams are transitioning from the offseason to what many consider the start of the new league year.  This means that training-camp battles will start to heat up, roster decisions will be made prior to June cuts, rookies are going to start understanding what it means to be in the NFL ...

Denard Robinson lines up at QB for Jaguars, per reports Loading... Robinson is clearly a raw prospect as far as quarterbacks go. He threw for 1,319 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions last season with Michigan, and posted a sub-par completion percentage of 53.3. He's a very athletic player, and that's why he was drafted at all.

Jacksonville Jaguars team report: Marcedes Lewis affected by poor passing game

One major downside of the Jaguars' anemic passing game so far is the minimal production seen from Pro Bowl TE Marcedes Lewis. In the two games he has played, Lewis has just four catches for 43 yards and been targeted only five times. Part of the problem has been an unsettled quarterback situation.

However, once rookie Blaine Gabbert gets more comfortable with the offense, don't be surprised if Lewis' numbers start to closely resemble last season when he caught 58 passes for 700 yards and a franchise-record 10 touchdowns.

Sunday's opponent, the New Orleans Saints, are ranked 27th in the NFL against the pass and would seem to be a good matchup for Lewis to have a breakout game.

One of Gabbert's greatest assets is his ability to throw the seam route, a Lewis specialty. It may take some time for them to develop a real connection, but Lewis isn't worried about his numbers not looking impressive. "They come in bunches, I'm very patient," said Lewis. "I'm confident things will get turned around."

Notes: There could be some shuffling along the offensive line against the Saints. OT Eugene Monroe, who hurt his shoulder in last week's game, was limited again in practice on Thursday. The Jaguars moved Guy Whimper from right tackle to left tackle, flipped Eben Britton from left guard to his old right tackle spot, and put rookie Will Rackley back at left guard.

DE Aaron Kampman came out in full pads Thursday, but mostly worked off to the side. The Jaguars are hopeful he can return next week for the Cincinnati game.

If the Jaguars are going to open up their offense, a big concern has to be the protection against the Saints' blitz-happy defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who worked in that capacity for the Jaguars in 2008. The Jaguars have allowed six sacks in 70 pass attempts this season, which is the third-worst sack per pass play ratio in the NFL. More alarming, two different quarterbacks have been sacked for a safety in the first quarter of the past two games. With the potential changes in the offensive line if Monroe can't play, the Jaguars will have to be more mindful of protecting Gabbert.
