Recruiting Notebook: Blaine Gabbert's younger brother commits to UCF The University of Central Florida is getting a quarterback with a familiar last name. Tyler Gabbert, the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars starter Blaine Gabbert, committed to the Golden Knights on Monday.

Jaguars hire Greg Olson to work with QB Blaine Gabbert Quarterback Blaine Gabbert's development will be critical to the future of the Jaguars organization. On Thursday, head coach Mike Mularkey hired the man who will work most closely with the young quarterback.

A quick round of catch up ... A quick zip around the division to catch up on some things that have happened while I had a few days off. The trio of coaches charged with shaping Blaine Gabbert in Jacksonville is in place: coach Mike Mularkey, offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski and quarterback coach Greg Olsen. Olsen comes to the Jaguars from the Buccaneers where he worked with Josh Freeman, who regressed badly last season ...

Jaguars Hire Mike Mularkey To Work With Blaine Gabbert Once the list of candidates that the Jaguars were going after started to get whittled down, it became clear that they were looking to bring in an offensive coach to help their woeful performance on that side of the ball this season. They ended up hiring Mike Mularkey, and according to National Football Post , it is partly because of his ability to mold Matt Ryan into a successful quarterback ...

CFT: Tyler Gabbert finally ends up at UCF Former Missouri quarterback Tyler Gabbert appears to have finally found his new home after spending 2011 playing college football musical chairs.

Gabbert Looking Ahead to Improvement Process JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Blaine Gabbert's short-term plan is simple - and pretty understandable, too. "Rest," he said. But while that's the short term, the Jaguars' quarterback said the plan after that - the one entering his first full NFL off-season - is as simple, and certainly more important.

Tyler Gabbert finally ends up at UCF Former Missouri quarterback Tyler Gabbert appears to have finally found his new home after spending 2011 playing college football musical chairs. No promises, though. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Gabbert will play for Central Florida, months after he visited the school. Gabbert is currently working on his degree from a community college in St. Louis…

Stewart Mandel: Talent-rich SEC states are thin on elite quarterback prospects A year ago this time, with the SEC coming off its fifth straight national championship, my colleague Andy Staples compiled some interesting data that confirmed one of the primary reasons behind the league's recent dominance: The wealth of elite defensive prospects in its backyard. Andy noted that a staggering 43 percent of NFL defensive linemen hailed from a cluster of 10 Southeastern states ...

2012 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars' 5 Biggest Needs Needless to say, the Jacksonville Jaguars need a lot of help. The team finished 2011 at 5-11, missed the playoffs for the fourth season in a row, fired its head coach during the season and are now under new ownership. How did the Jaguars get into this position you ask? Poor draft picks. The Jaguars have become the model of poor drafting outside of the man you see pictured above, Maurice Jones ...

Outsiders on youth of Texans, Jaguars Rivers McCown of Football Outsiders looks at the big risers and fallers in terms of under-25-year old talent. He breaks down the contribution teams got from guys who fit the bill, factoring in quarterback talent, track record for developing young guys and adding weight to prime players involved in the passing game. The AFC South has a team among the risers and the fallers. Here’s what McCown ...

Blaine Gabbert

Blaine Gabbert - Missouri Tigers Blaine GabbertFull Name : Blaine Gabbert
Height : 6 foot 4
Weight : 226 lbs.

High School : Parkway West High School
College : Missouri Tigers
Position : Quarterback

Blaine Gabbert is one of the best quarterbacks we have seen in the last three classes combined- when healthy. Blaine Gabbert is the ideal blend of being a pocket passer and athlete woven all into one package, very much in the same mold as former Michigan State QB Drew Stanton. He has outstanding size, mobility and arm strength for a player at this stage and all the measurables you look for are present. Blaine Gabbert is a pocket passer with impressive overall touch, timing and accuracy. He gets good RPMs on the deep-out route and is able to fit the ball into some tight spots. He has a very smooth and relaxed throwing motion. Keeps the ball high while dropping and shows a compact, quick delivery. Mechanics are consistent, and he is a very confident passer -- stands tall, steps into his throws and is very balanced. Blaine Gabbert possesses a powerful downfield arm and demonstrates an array of different throws. Blaine Gabbert has a knack for zinging the skinny post, shows the touch to lay the ball in between linebackers and safeties and does an excellent job leading receievers on slants, crossing routes and digs. Also does a good job of recognizing coverages and leading his WRs to soft spots in zone. Sells pump-fakes and play-action fakes well -- is a good ball handler. What is so surprising about Blaine Gabbert when you look at him on the hoof is his impressive mobility and running skills. He is mobile and a threat to run. Is a dual-threat guy who can be very dangerous when he breaks contain. Shows some elusiveness as a runner. Blaine Gabbert is also a tough, competitive runner who knows where the first-down marker is when he takes off to run.
